Description
Job Description
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Consultant in Hematopathology to join our dynamic pathology team. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic services in hematopathology, contribute to multidisciplinary clinical care, and support the development of laboratory services in line with international standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely diagnosis of hematologic malignancies and non-neoplastic hematologic disorders, supporting the patient care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive diagnostic services in hematopathology, including interpretation of bone marrow biopsies, lymph node and extranodal tissue specimens, peripheral blood smears, and flow cytometry.
- Participate in and lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, providing expert input into patient management plans.
- Collaborate with hematologists, oncologists, and other clinical teams to ensure integrated and patient-centered care.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, laboratory technologists, and trainees in hematopathology.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, including participation in external quality assessment schemes.
- Engage in clinical audits, research, and continuing professional development to maintain and advance expertise in the field.
- Support the introduction of new diagnostic techniques, including molecular diagnostics and next-generation sequencing, where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards such as CAP, ISO 15189, or equivalent, and contribute to laboratory readiness for inspections.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from a recognized institution and completion of residency in pathology.
- Fellowship or board certification in Hematopathology (e.g., FRCPath, American Board of Pathology, or equivalent).
- Experience in digital pathology and telepathology platforms.
- Active involvement in teaching, research, or publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and quality management frameworks.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of post-certification experience in a tertiary care or academic setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic hematopathology, including morphology, immunophenotyping, cytogenetics, and molecular pathology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to collaborative practice and continuous improvement.
