Job Purpose To support laboratory operations through receiving, processing, tracking, and managing biological samples, performing laboratory procedures, supporting protocol implementation, and collaborating with the lab, clinic, and HPP teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing blood samples (serum, whole blood, PBMC).
• Keep updated records and tracking of received samples.
• Performing various laboratory processes, specifically knowledge and practical experience in isolation of PBMC and serum from blood.
• Working with cell cultures, cell counting, and viability testing.
• Extensive experience with gradient centrifugation.
• Experience working with pre-labelled LVL tubes.
• Freezing samples and blood fractions at –80C ULTS and LN2.
• Implementing new protocols and quality control of existing protocols.
• Long-term planning and inventory tracking of materials.
• Working closely with the lab team, the clinic team, and the HPP team.

Governance & Compliance

• Adhere to all SOPs and laboratory protocols.
• Ensure proper sample handling, documentation, and data integrity.
• Follow institutional safety and ethics guidelines.

Competencies & Skills Core Competencies

• High interpersonal communication and strong teamwork skills.
• Full proficiency in English (advantage).
• Technical orientation with a good approach to operating systems and automation.

Technical Competencies

• Experience working with cell cultures.
• Experience working with blood samples.
• Knowledge in PBMC isolation (high advantage).
• Familiarity with basic molecular biology methods.
• Proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related fields – mandatory.
• At least 5 years’ experience in PBMC isolation from human blood samples.

Working Conditions

• Laboratory environment involving handling of blood and biological samples.
• Close collaboration with lab, clinic, and HPP teams.
• Requires adherence to safety, ethics, and sample management protocols.
