The position requires a high level of technical expertise and in-depth knowledge in the assigned area of business. The position provides technical expertise as well as administering the underwriting function. Within authority limitations has the final determination on the acceptance or rejection of the risk.
Job Requirements:
Support Sr. Marine underwriters in day to day operations of Syndicate Marine Team.
Maintaining relationship with International Marine Brokers to ensure constant flow of submissions.
Improving overall portfolio persistency will relieve new business production.
Retention of existing Marine portfolio.
Evaluates more complex risks or amounts in excess of field approval limits.
Following underwriting protocols, guidelines and pricing policies.
Monitors trends and identifies the need for new or revised underwriting policies, procedures, and practices. Recommends changes to underwriting leadership.
Proactively identifying and pursue up-selling (add-ons) and cross-selling opportunities to maximize profitable revenue potential from new and renewal business and achieve agreed business targets.
Consultative role towards international and local market intelligence, which enables to write business that profits.
Ensure profitable growth of Marine portfolio.
May assist the Head of Department in development and implementation of the companies strategic business plan and budget inline with distribution.
Provide accurate, high quality and speedy underwriting service for the assigned limits that builds customer relations and credibility.
Assist the Manager in underwriting decisions after analyzing and pricing the risk based on information provided in the proposal form/ survey report.
Drive an accurate, high quality and speedy underwriting service that builds customer relations and credibility.
May liaise with Third Part Administrators, reinsurance and claims for service delivery issues.
Generate and monitor monthly production reports/ claims analysis.
Provides counsel coaching and guidance to underwriters that may not report to them.
Keep the documentation and system up to date.
Respond to queries raised by the Managing Agent, Lloyd’s of London or Syndicate Manager.
Skills:
Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Marine Cargo insurance market and regulatory environment; Knowledge of Marine Hull will be plus.

Education:
Graduate degree preferably in Science, Insurance, Risk management, Accountancy, Law.
Insurance certification from any accredited institute preferable.
5years of underwriting experience in Marine Cargo Business and experience inwriting inward reinsurance business.
Proven ability in underwriting, organizing workload under pressure and in leading medium or small teams.
