A Respiratory Therapist (RT) is a healthcare professional specializing in the assessment and treatment of patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Administer oxygen therapy, nebulization, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and interpret results.
  • Educate patients on respiratory care and equipment use (e.g., inhalers).
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses in developing care plans.
  • Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Valid professional license/registration.
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory physiology and medical equipment.
  • Good communication and critical-thinking skills.
